Commission calculation: estimate, trace and personnel premium

Read the Premium and Personnel Premium screens: the estimated commission, the step-by-step calculation trace, assumptions and the branch precondition.

Updated

The premium screens show what the commission will be before the period ends. There are two separate calculations: the commission you will receive from the paying company (in telecom, the operator) and the commission you will pay your own personnel.

Premium: what the paying company owes

  • The figure at the top reads "Estimated … premium" (VAT excluded) and carries an "Estimate" label until the period is closed.
  • Calculation view: "Month-end projection" carries the actuals to the period end at the current pace; "As of today" uses only the actuals up to the report day. Once the period has ended, the choice is hidden.
  • Each commission program is a section with its company-level values and the premium of every branch.

The calculation trace

  1. In the Branches table, click a branch.
  2. Every step of the trace shows its Formula, Inputs and Premium; a step that could not be worked out says "not calculated".
  3. The "To next tier" hint shows how many units or points are left to the next tier.
  4. If the template supports it, the Tier simulator lets you add extra sales and see how the premium changes; a simulation is never saved.

Assumptions and missing data

The "Assumptions and missing data" box above the amounts lists what the estimate assumed. In the telecom template, for example, a branch without a province gets the lowest regional multiplier. The estimate improves as you fill in what is missing.

Personnel premium

The Personnel Premium screen (My Premium for a Sales Representative) shows the estimated commission your business pays its own personnel.

  • Users who see several branches start with the branch overview; opening a branch shows its personnel and a calculation trace per person.
  • Branch precondition: where the template defines it, net premiums are halved when the precondition is not met. While the period runs it is usual that it is not met yet; once met, premiums are calculated on the full amount.
  • Where defined, the manager and coordinator premiums appear on the same screen.
  • Active transactions with no person assigned (for example imported ones) count towards nobody's premium; the screen warns you.

Final calculation

When the period is closed, the calculation is stored with a "Final calculation" label and the amounts no longer change. If the period is reopened and closed again, a new version is stored; older ones stay in the "Calculation history".

Who sees what

The Customer Admin and the Accountant see Premium. Every role sees Personnel Premium within its branch scope; a Sales Representative sees only their own premium.
